Technogym at the World Economic Forum

Nerio Alessandri, Founder and CEO of Technogym, alongside her daughter and Technogym’s Member of the Board Erica will once again take part to the World Economic Forum, to be held in Davos, Switzerland, from January 21-24. The World Economic Forum brings together the world’s foremost CEOs, heads of state, policy-makers, experts, international organizations, innovators and representatives of civil society with the aim of driving positive change.

This year these leaders will focus on Stakeholders for a Cohesive and Sustainable World: the stakeholders concept is a the core of the World Economic Forum DNA, since no institution, no business, no individual alone can address the economic, technological, social, environmental and cultural challenges of a complex and interconnected world. Partnership and collaboration will be future keywords to address the key challenges identified by the world economic forum such as: Economy, Society, Ecology, Technology, Industry and Geopolitics.

In this context, rich of both threats and opportunities, ensuring people’s health and wellness will be among the leaders’ top priorities both on the public and the private sector. Today, all key stakeholders agree on the role of wellness as a social opportunity for everyone - an opportunity for governments to reduce health service costs by implementing public policies that promote health in every aspect of civil society (e.g. human planning initiatives, actions in the field of education, sports, tax incentives, etc); an opportunity for companies to develop corporate wellness programs, leading to benefits both for employees in terms of quality of life and for the companies in terms of creativity and increased productivity; finally, an opportunity for all citizens to live a longer and happier life.

Erica Alessandri will give her remarks within the “Healthy Cities and Communities Imperative” session, aiming at promoting public-private cooperation (schools, workplaces, outdoor public spaces, cultural institutions, hospitals and medical sector) in cities development to achieve socially vibrant and healthy communities. Wellness Valley - Technogym’s social initiative to create in the Italian region of Romagna the first wellness district in the world – will be presented a key reference in which over 70 local stakeholder cooperate to create services and initiatives to promote wellness and health at different levels.

Technogym at World Economic Forum 2019

In 2019 leaders focused on Globalization 4.0: Shaping a Global Architecture in the Age of the Fourth Industrial Revolution, a theme which calls on global decision makers to renew the systems that have supported international cooperation in the past by adapting them to today’s scenario dominated on one side by complexity and incertitude, and on the other side by advanced technologies able to create innovations at a speed and scale unparalleled in human history. In this context, rich of both threats and opportunities, ensuring people’s health and wellness will be among the leaders’ top priorities both on the public and the private sector.
In particular, Nerio Alessandri presented Wellness as a central driving force in promoting social and economic sustainability. In a world in which non-communicable diseases and unhealthy lifestyles are on the rise, Wellness is vital in stopping this negative trend and in enhancing people’s quality of life. Today, wellness must be seen as a social opportunity for everyone - an opportunity for governments to reduce health service costs by implementing public policies that promote health in every aspect of civil society (e.g. human planning initiatives, actions in the field of education, sports, tax incentives, etc); an opportunity for companies to develop corporate wellness programs, leading to benefits both for employees in terms of quality of life and for the companies in terms of creativity and increased productivity; finally, an opportunity for all citizens to improve their health and daily lifestyle thanks to a regular physical activity.
